I have tried to do the same. I can delete the content of the message but not the message all together.
place a check in the message box ( upper RH side) then go to moderate tools (located at the bottom of the page) and click on delete message.

Well, that sort of worked if you check the "Report" box.
I would really like to delete the entire "Visitor Message" function. I don't see any point of having it when the Private Message function is available.
Really don't want my system clogged up with these files that aren't removable.

I agree, maybe Megan can chime in with an answer when she has the time.
Are you refering to the messages that a user can leave on your profile page?

Yes, those are the ones.
I can turn off visitor messaging if no one is using it and if you are finding it annoying rather than helpful. It seems a little redundant to me too, though I'm sure some types of forums have a use for it.

I believe Visitors messages are a workable part of the forum .For some who have full PM boxes they get noteification of the message . It is Public so messages left can be read by others . I have used it ,as any message I have left can be read by others I have nothing to hide when i leave a visitors Message .

I am not sure but i think it has been decided to leave this option "on".
Just because myself and OM do not like it does not means it goes "off"
Erik is correct. The committee reviewed it with the understanding that other users of the board regularly use the feature. Old Magnet, I can clear any messages from your profile if you wish. I'd be happy to do it.
