Please note that the "Technical Library" section appears on the bulletin board. Thank you Old Magnet for providing a long list of categories to help organize an endeavor as such. This section is currently closed and is intended as a read-only portion of the forum. It will require moderators migrating appropriate threads to the sections listed. The sub-sections are just a beginning to the library and are placed as such to maintain a reasonable index for a quick view. As mentioned before, this is a work in progress and will require fine tuning as we go along.

If you see a thread that has technical data that should be categorized and included in the library, please contact one of the moderators for consideration to migrate the info (GarlicPete, Chriscokid, Walt D7-3T, Deas Plant or me B4D2) . The thread will possibly be edited to highlight the core information.

Unacceptable, inadequate, unprofessional and an insult to the intelligence of those that would contribute.
No different than the previous "bin" system proposal that was rejected.

Great idea but in 5 months time only one submission and it was really an advertisement for injector service---is this technical section a dead issue now??????

We're dependent upon a few of us to populate this section.

When we were having this discussion, I had a plan to populate the section by mining old posts and attachments, the bulk of which were provided by Old Magnet.

I have accumulated a list of good candidates which have been recently posted, but I haven't had a chance to do any work on this project for the moment. I'll get to it, but it will just take time.

The original concept was to enlist many of our helpers, such as Magnet, edb, Deas and some others to populate this area. We'd give access and control to a shortlist of people who agreed upon format, had content and had the desire to answer. The idea was that when a question was asked, rather than answer the question within the thread, the technical information and details could be posted to the library, then a reply pointing the questioner to the technical information could be posted. The questioner could then reply with questions and clarifications within the same post.

This mechanism would allow the technical information section to grow naturally, with the data accumulating as questions were asked, but keep it organized and clean of the chatter and normal discussion stuff. As questions continued to be asked, the information would grow and when the same question was asked again, a simple reference to the data already there would provide the answer.

Unfortunately, we had difficulty coming to accord amongst us contributors about organization and structure and our main contributors weren't comfortable accepting the special access required to maintain the data area. That leaves us with just a few of us who have access and will need to comb through the data, extract out the useful technical information we have left, or catch the new as it appears, and copy it over to the technical resource library.

It will happen, but it will have to wait until one of the three of us with access has the time to devote to populating that area. It might be a while.

Pete.

Ok--great to hear its not been dropped! It came to mind again as another request was made for the D2 dipsticks and OM's drawings can't seem to be found in the archives.
