If the track pins and bushings are not severely worn it may be practical to have the pins and bushings turned. Labor costs may dictate that it is not worth this effort and tracks are then run to destruction and replaced.
When tracks are worn beyond track adjuster limits removing one of the track links can extend life. The penalty for doing this is accelerated wear due to increasing the track link pitch. Under these conditions the tracks are run to destruction. Running the unit, heating and hammering the pin joint or submerging in water to free up the rust can free frozen track links.
