I've had this small 20 so long that I don't remember when I bought it. My guess is about 30 years ago. I decided it was time to get it running. Got the engine running and found it had a rock solid steering clutch. Thought I would show my setup for pulling a final drive. Sure does save your back. Bill :)

Nice Bill I can tell by the setup that this is not the first and will not be the last:) Thanks for sharing

That looks easy Bill. I have a PV 15 that I am still trying to get one side off. It's stuck for some odd reason. Keep posting pics of the restoration.

I've done this a few times before, like many of you have. Bill

I've been saving these 12'' offset tracks just for this tractor. The originals had the bushing turned once and had been used enough to wear through the bushings again. The 12" tracks are like new. :)

How are you going to unroll those tracks? They look rusted stuck?
Also how will you press that steering clutch back on?
Thanks!

The steering packs on these early small gasoline CAT's need only to be tight enough so they don't twist the key on the tapered shaft. The spockets are the same, just clean and real tight. The rolled up tracks are the one's I removed off the small CAT 20. They did there share of work and are worn out. The CAT 15 has the like new 12" off set tracks that I will install on the small 20.
