A guide to aid in the process of assessing and acquiring a machine
The Walk Around is a recurring description for each type of equipment listed in the Repeat Equipment Sequence. It follows the pattern of generic and specific information. The generic portion is a detailed description of a visual inspection with a built in check list of topics and include pictures of what to look for.. The specific portion includes any dimensional info needed to complete the inspection. Things like rail height, track adjuster extension, alignment, etc.
The Assessment section is a recurring description for each type of equipment listed in the Repeat Equipment Sequence. It follows the pattern of generic and specific information. It contains a more detailed analysis than the “Walk Around” like checking lube levels and condition, measuring undercarriage components, investigating leaks, test driving the unit, verifying adjustment requirements, investigating repairs, checking alignments, checking for vibration, engine tune, opening and inspecting various compartments, checking cross shaft movement, loose sprockets, loose front idlers, etc.
