Cat Power Unit 4D1060
I have this engine that is from a Cat 44 pull type grader and it runs!! It is a single cyl. gas engine with a magneto and is air cooled. Its a heavy beast as it weighs 325 lbs.
Does anyone have one of these out there anywhere? Is it rare? I'll try and post a picture or 2 of it.

Book shows the 4d---- as a power unit, used on the 66 and 77 grader.

does your book give any specs such as HP, RPM, bore, stroke, etc. ?
also, anything on a governor, carb settings etc. Where can I find this info if not in your book?

hello kellyb ,the motor fitted to the 44 single frame grader in 1937 was the g800.
bore=3''5/8 stroke= 4'' , hp =5.5 @ 1300 rpm ,sorry this is the only info i have ,hope it helps ,bruce oz

Bruce oz, Information is the same as mine. The only thing I would add is at Sn. 4D1196 a further refinement had been made to the grader engine which would assist in preventing the entrance of dirt into the engine. A new cylinder assembly had been provided, which could be used on all graders that completely enclose the valve push rods. Hope this is a little more help. Maybe someone will show up with some more information.

Kellyb, I've been told that the engine is indeed sought after, because it is missing on many of the surviving No. 66 pull graders. GWH

The maintenance instructions for the single cylinder G800 engine (the smallest gas engine built by Cat), are found in the Operation and Maintenance Instructions booklet for the Power-Controlled #66 and #77 pull graders.
The OMI form number for the Power Controlled #66 grader, S/N 5E1-up, is 3226 .. and form number for the P.C. #77 grader, 9C1-up is 1663.
