Lots of info and experience here to help you with your D13000 engine dilemma.
I left you a PM over on Smokstak about compression figures for the successor to the D13000 , namely the D342. It should be a good guide as the later D13000 pistons, cylinder liners, conrods, etc, are the same for both series of engine.

Attached -- is a scan of the Cat data on compression testing the named series of engines. I came across this in a rubbish bin years ago, hence it is somewhat scrunched up.
