    Default D2 Questions

    1. What are the size and thread of the bolts that hold the trunion pin in on a D2 - 2S? The parts book I have doesn't list the part number for them, only the number for the removal bolts which are smaller in size.

    2. Does anyone know what size the bolt is that you need to remove the plugs on a master pin?

    3. What size punch do you need to hammer out the master pin?

    Default Thank you

Do any of you know a good paint/primer to use for the old highway yellow? Appears to me that Cat has discontinued it, and Lilly is unresponsive to my requests for it. Seems to be a large topic of discussion here but I've seen no evidence that makes me think any of them are exactly right based on the old paint.

    Thanks again.

    Default Info

I finally received word from Lilly. I hope the below is useful to others as well.

"The C109A is the Highway Yellow (Old Cat Yellow) which is still carried by Caterpillar Dealers - but only in gallon containers. Current Caterpillar part number is 4C-4185. Your local Cat dealer may still have some aerosol on hand - if they do it will be under part number 206-6417.

    I show no record of a C107A.

    We recommend the Caterpillar Primer
4C-4205 is the aerosol part number
4C-4190 is the gallon part number
4C-4197 is the five gallon part number"

    Default Master Pin

Is it easier to just torch the bushing and pin than try to remove a pin with 60 years of rust on it? The pins and bushings look reasonably cheap.
