does a 1980 D7G have power brakes or are they dry like the older tractors , looking at one in the usede yard and it seems to steer hard like the brakes are bad.

If that D7G has 'dry' brakes, methinks it ain't by design. And they should be power assisted. How much free travel do the pedals have before they begin to engage the brake? It's been a while since I ran a D7G but I seem to remember they had inter-connected clutch and brake on the steering clutch controls. If this is the case, they may be out of adjustment.

They came out that way Deas but there was a conversion available to take the brakes off the levers. Can recall converting one so if the brakes are only on the peddals they have been likely converted. I think the 17A was the last D7 with dry clutches. D7E had oil clutches.

Ron - That's a pretty big tractor to build a flower garden for Bonnie or are you just looking to get a bigger snow plow. Maybe you're going to level the whole farm and plant corn for grain.

pete none of the above, got a neighbor looking at this tractor and he says the brakes have to be pushed very hard to make it turn, he is not able to push dirt at the yard where it is at , thay may move it to his place monday and then we will know more. Will check in later with more info. thanks for now , ron

To adjust brakes, look for cover over each with 3 bolts in it. They are near the back of big covers. Under them find a 9/16 hex, tighten right up then back off 9 Clicks(1&1/2 turns).

Were the conversions to disable the power brakes because they had problems, or just operator preference? Kind of wish my D6c had power brakes, but looks like it would be a job to convert it.
