I don,t have any info on them other than we had one or two come into the dealer one time years ago & they were D4s & boy that was a load for the old D4 without any load in the bucket. They had the steel roof over the operator to protect him & the loader assembly besides that was very heavy constructed.

    Default No D4 Overshot...but!

    MM,

Here’s one of a “Athey” overshot mounted on an D8 later 1H or early 8R Series tractor. The bucket size for the Model 8 MobilLoader ranged from 2.7 to 4.5 cubic yards. “Depending upon the type of material.”

    Default Overshot

I saw a loader in use loading gravel on either a D2 or D4 I am not sure now which since the guy had both with loaders. The one I saw was not near as cumbersome as those others have shown. Maybe some one else will have pictures of the type I saw working it was rather neat and I am quite certian it was genuine Cat. Sorry I have no pictures. This was in about 1958-60.

There was a pretty good post w. pics on the old ACMOC board back a couple years. I don't know if you'll ever find it but you might want to give it a shot. Sorry, I can't remember who sent it in or the subject line.

Here's a picture that came from a web site up in Iceland. Not sure if it's still there or not.

There is one of those things at the LeSuer County Pioneer Power Association. I believe(not quite sure) it came from the City of Rochester, Minnesota. It was used to load coal for their power generating plant as I remember. What a dirty job that would have been. It's in decent shape.
