Yes you can convert it to electric start. Not sure of all the stuff you need but pull the starter cover off of the engine and see if it has a ring gear on the fly wheel, if yes then all you need is the starter, and I don't know what the starter number is. If on ring gear then you will need to remove and find and install ring gear. Some one on the forum has posted a parts list in the past. A friend of mine has used a flywheel from a Honda automatic transmission bolted to the front pulley and used a starter from a Toyota. It works and it is all under the front of the engine so you don't see it with out looking for it.
Sounds funny, like a car when it is cranking. Lots easier then pulling the engine, just not original.

One of the club members just converted one using a ring gear form a Ford 390 CI V8.
I have one that uses a AC/Delco starter. I'm not sure what ring gear is on it. Mine has a battery to start, but no alternator since the front gear drive is powering a hydraulic pump.
I charge the battery about once every three months.
I just convered one and I have all the information and how to machine the flywheel if you need it please let me know. I also have a 22 teeth gear for the gen if you go that way.
