D2-3J4086 engine rebuilder ready - confirm parts
The local rebuilder's ready to turn my pony crank so I need new bearings tout-de-suite! : )
The flywheel end is 3B7635 and the pinion end is 3B7634 (nice of them to make them consecutive). I noticed a few hundred serials later at 3J4878, the part numbers changed to 7B3059 and 7B3057 respectively - does anyone know if the later bearings are a direct replacement and I can request them instead? (Both std size)
Also, I'd like the bearing dowels too - available? Last, I need the pinion end seal washer which is 4B818 - also available?
Would folks suggest I call the local Cat dealer (Milton in Batavia NY) or just get on the horn with Dana at Florin?
Cheers,
Neil.
Cheers,
Neil.

There was a recent discussion here on pony bearings and clearances.
According to my service magazine articles Cat went to Aluminum bearings in 1946 so your early bearing numbers are most likely for babbitt. The later bearings will interchange but the aluminum units run considerably higher clearances. 0.005 to 0.0085 vs babbitt @ 0.002 to 0.0055 or even a bit tighter if I recall.
