    Default Scrap Iron Question.

    .
How much does a Scrap Yard pay for old equipment
dozers, loaders, graders, scrapers, backhoes, excavators, trucks, etc ?

Most pay by the ton. It will vary depending on location. Locally here in NE B.C. they are paying $240-$250.00/ton, but i'm sure the closer to port or smelter you are the price will be higher. Not hard to beat scrap price here, but not as much to pick from either. Garry

In the scrap world a ton is normally a short ton, or 2200 lbs

I believe you are correct Daron with 2000# being a short ton and 2200# being a tonne.

Sorry I had it backwards. Just make sure you understand what you are getting. In PA when they quote you, it is XXX dollars, per 2200 lbs.

You are right Catmatt, it could be a quick lesson in how to lose 10% of what you thought you were getting, and thats usually after you have unloaded or had the bins emptied.
