    Default fuel strainer

yep it was on backwards ,looked at my L20 and pv15 and the arrow is for direction of flow . I got it turned around and cranked on it and it started on the 3rd pull .I am going to try to seal the radiator with some alumaseal for now and just drive and have some fun with it while breaking in the rings. looking for some parts for the front idlers and some other parts to finish off the mechanical restoration . I am looking at buying a canopy and side curtains as the tractor has the suds in the trans and crankcase and I think it had one on it at one time .I ordered a new seat and crank strap from john Hahn .The 30 is missing the tag on the rear fender ,Is there some one that reproduces these tags ?

    Default best 30 phase 2

Starting to work on the best 30 after a little brake for some other projects . I didn't have any luck with huffs on the repo tags ,he only had tags for cat 30's . I did take the 30 to three shows last summer and had a great time and I think it runs very well. It's time to start up on the rest of the restoration ,first up is the front idlers, rollers ,and the roller frames . I am in need of some stamped pads if anyone knows of some in good shape . Got some pics for anyone who is fallowing my progress !

    Doh In the shop

Got it in the shop and starting the work . My dad and I split the track and are trying to get all the u/c work figured out . Most for the problem is the front idler , the adjusting bolts are not even but that is the least of it's problems . The shaft for the idler is bent but some time in the press got it running true . The first roller's shaft is broke in the center and will need replaced ,and the roller frame is bent but just at the front where the idler rides . A little time with some jacks and some hard work and the roller frame is true now .I have new fenders, rock guards ,canopy ,and I think every thing ranken makes for the 30 in the shop also a new seat from john is on the best but I still need more parts !

    Default update

We have got most of the left side of the u/c finished , but waiting for the top roller bushings and the roller frame/sprocket bushings to be machined . Started on the right side and it is in better shape than the left but the idler bearings are shot so it got new roller bearings . Also had a correct mag rebuilt for the best 30 .I am still looking for some parts for the project ,posted them in the wanted section if anyone has a parts machine .

    Default some progress

top rollers ,idlers ,lower rollers finished . I think I have removed about 150lb. of dirt and grease from the 30's under side and another 150lb. to go . I have found that the needle scaler works very well for removing the rock hard grease ,thanks for the tip chriscokid ! I am still looking for a original tool box for the fender if anyones got one .thanks for looking
