The ACMOC board of directors recently considered the topic of links to our bulletin board or web site. They delegated the task to the website committee (Joe Black, George Howard, Jenny Penrod) and told us to approve on a case-by-case basis. We are willing to put links up here, and would encourage nominations by our viewers. We think they ought to be of relevant interest to our site users, and offer to link us on their web site. Any requests for links to commercial sites will be reviewed and considered. Below is the text of the minutes of the meeting in relation to website links. GWH

"3. Placing links on our website. A discussion ensued about whether or not to authorize “links” to other websites from our website. Factors to be considered were mentioned, including the reciprocity of the linked website, the quality of the website being linked to, and whether the other website would be relevant to our membership’s interests. Another concern was how to handle non-construction site requests, and commercial site requests.

"Jim Clack moved the following resolution, and Don Dougherty seconded the motion.

"Resolution Number 62:

"Resolved, that the authority to approve links to our Internet website is delegated to the website committee; that the committee will review all requests in light of quality factors and reciprocity, and if the committee turns down a request, the requester may appeal the committee’s decision to the board of directors.

"The motion passed and the resolution was adopted."

GWH I think is very important to only allow PAYING ACMOC members to have links on the BB. Weater revelant or not NO pay NO play!!!!! I myself have a web link and want it but anybody that use this site for advertizment should at least pay dues
While we are on the subject Please tell us why we changed magazine editors I have had 17 inqiures as to why the change and all voiced their liking Carolyn and wanted to know what the scoop was ? And last time our chapter had an article and could not be published for lack of space but we had room so some clown to tell us about not stepping into too hot of bath water where is the conection there to restoring Old Caterpillars

Willie, your comments about links made sense, so when the board of directors met on Monday (by telephone conference call), we amended the resolution we had passed about links. It now reads as follows:

Whereas, ACMOC maintains an Internet website at www.acmoc.org; and

Whereas, the Internet website is available to the public; and

Whereas, the club’s Internet website is accessed through a “home page”, from which a user can access the bulletin board; and

Whereas, anyone can post on the club’s Internet bulletin board after registering; and

Whereas, anyone posting on the club’s Internet bulletin board can place links to other websites on a “thread” or posting created on the bulletin board; and

Whereas, the board of directors wishes to have some links posted on the homepage for easy access and greater visibility; and

Whereas, the board of directors wishes to have control over the links that are posted on the homepage to ensure that they are relevant to the hobby and helpful to the club;

Now therefore, it is:

(1) Resolved, that the authority to approve links to the homepage of our Internet website is delegated to the website committee; that the committee will review all requests in light of quality factors and reciprocity, and if the committee turns down a request, the requester may appeal the committee’s decision to the board of directors[.]; and it is further

(2) Resolved, that with respect to the posting of other clubs’ links, the committee will authorize the posting only if the other club offers reciprocity in posting a link to our website; and it is further

(3) Resolved, that with respect to individuals posting, all such individuals must be members of ACMOC; and it is further

(4) Resolved, that with respect to businesses or commercial enterprises wishing to post, that they too be required to be a member of the club.


As for the change in magazine editors/printers, I have the impression that Jeff Huff and you discussed it at the Brooks show. I hope you (and everyone else) enjoy the magazine that just came out.

Thank you very much GWH it all looks good to me and hope the people on that commetee are rally interested in the clubs sucess and address the issues in timley manner not have the ole atitude that is a volinteer position and get to it when they feel like it as has happend in the past.
Yes Jeff did explain the magazine deal to me and it makes good business sense just wish that you would post it so everybody knows why but by now most have new mag. and probably mentioned in Jeffs section.
My next concern is who are we going to get to do 1/2 as good of job as you Mr. Secrtary when you become our next Mr. Pres. LOL Thanks again

Swishy, it is Thursday morning in colorful Colorado. I'm looking over my e-mail, getting ready to shave and shower and face the day. I have read your response above and like the suggestions. I've got a lot of clerical work to do sometime today on the computer, and I'll send a memo to the website committee with your suggestions. These are the first suggestions we have received. From a brief review, it appears that the suggestions are sites that are owned by members of ACMOC. GWH
