    Default Dumb question, No 42 or 44 Hydraulic unit.

    Well, our Plow Day got rained out. AGAIN. Ground was too wet for the "wheel tractor guys" and nobody brought a ground trip plow, only hydraulic plows. I offered to pull the Farmall H and his hydraulic three bottom plow with my D2 just for fun but he wasn't interested.

    I was talking to a guy that said he has a 5J(?) D2 in poor condition that he's going to scrap or part out. He says it has a Cat front-mount two spool hydraulic unit on it (maybe a 42 or 44?) with all of the plumbing and a brush guard. Will a J series pump fit on my U series???

    Yes it will goin from j series to U because u take the adaptor brackets off ull also need the drive coupler for the crankshaft pulley but make sure u change ur fan belt before u put it on and if it's a double spool pump more then likely it's a 7w series 44 pump that has a 37gpm pump

    The original "J" installation for "two implements" uses the 8Wxxxx series #44 unit with 2-valve 25gpm pump.

    Same #44 unit as the early "U" models for "two implements" except the mounting group (including drive shaft) changes.

    Same lines group.

    Both utilize a hood mounted surge tank.

    There is a #42 Tool Bar (fits D2/D4)
    There is a #41 Hydraulic Control
    There is no #42 Hydraulic Control

    Thanks OM. When I bought the D2 it came with a toolbar blade but I didn't get any hydraulics. My toolbar blade seems to be an early version, you must detach the arms to reverse them, they don't swing around like other toolbar blades that I've seen. I'll have to dig it out of the weeds and get some pictures of it to post.

    With the addition of a few pieces you should be able to get what you want. The same arrangement is listed as "two implements" or with "bulldozer".

    Okay, I stopped and looked at the D2 with the 44 pump today. The pump is rough but looks like it can be saved. Any Idea what a fair price would be? Somewhere just north of scrap value?? Spool valves will need a rebuild and new spools (I am a machinist, we make prototype hydraulic components. I think I can handle that part easy enough). Tractor is serial number 5J6310SP, it's toast and most likely will be scrapped and sent to overseas to come back as a Hyundai.

    BTW, check out the first picture. If you look closely you can see daylight through the front idler. Yikes!

    I'm going to try to buy parts off it (44 unit and all plumbing). Does anybody need J series parts? Exhaust manifold looks useable, Head is gone on main, water jackets cracked on pony, Pony and Main engine REEEEEAAAALY Stuck. Seat tank doesn't look too bad.
