Confused D2 Toolbar Dozer info needed

After mowing today I wound up the Bobcat and dug my blade out of the weeds (of course I mowed those weeds too ). I believe this is a Cat toolbar blade but I don't know what model. This stuff all came with my D2 (5U9917) and was removed by the previous owner (I have all the bolts and caps for the blade arms too). Evidently the D2 had probably a single spool pump at one time. The hydraulic lines went down the left fender from the front-mounted pump. Those lines are bent and kinked but the crossover pipes look decent. One of the cylinders is broken off, I can reproduce the missing brackets but will need to find another cylinder to match, or maybe a good matched pair. One of the mounting lugs is broken loose from the blade, that will need to be welded back in too. I'm also wondering if the skid shoes are factory or a modification?

Does anybody (Old Magnet) know what model blade this is? I don't see a tag on it anywhere.

Rich, it does look like a Caterpillar toolbar setup. I also suspect you may have had a #41 hydraulic pump, judging by the hydraulic line set. Sorry, I have no toolbar parts books.

its all later cat tool bar stuff except maybe the h-cylinder ( can't see it that well) including the skid shoes. it probably put on years after the tractor was new. the trunion/track frame mounts go the other way with that vertical angle at the rear. check trunion bracket bolt hole spacing to make sure its for a d2 and not d4. good luck.

Yes its a tool bar, the tractor brackets are on the wrong side as pictured, Yours looks a bit different from mine, I would guess yours is a newer version. I have a set of matching cylinders that should work for you. I will try to post a pic of mine in a day or 2, have to fire up the old computer

Mike, I thought the later toolbar blades had the Swing-Around arms? These must be removed and swapped from side to side to reverse them. The D2 is a 1952 model and more than likely this blade was on it since new, but maybe not.

Steve, Yeah I see that they're backwards now. I just dropped the brackets where they landed, not really paying attention to which way the mounting holes were slanted and assumed that the rub rails went forward.

i didn't note it not swinging around but do know they had toolbar setups like yours where u'd have to drive out and back in. i think its all later and more hd than the swing around one. maybe they had problems with the swing arounds??? i think joman knows about your style and has one, but he don't post, only lurks..... yours is in the parts book, which i don't have with me out east.
    good luck

From what I have seen and own, it seems there are three versions of toolbars for a D2.

    A. Early model - non swinging trunion - short frame (pre sn#13236)
    B. Late model - swinging trunion - short frame
    C. Late model - swinging trunion - long frame (post sn#13236)

I have a 1952 with config B. I have config C. Laying in the trees, and have seen a few config A.s for sale.

B and C are identical with the exception of the bolt patterns on the mounts.

Usually the early models have the 41 pump while the 44s are seen on later models.

I have one similar to yours only I'm missing the rub or sway brackets and the diagonal is bolted through the sides of the push arms.
This came from a 1951 machine. Your picture is the first time I've seen showing the sway brackets. I always wondered what would
keep the arms from hitting the tracks while using my subsoiler.

Hey side-seat, interesting config. Since you have an early model TB on a late model crawler, I wonder if they cut the rub bars off to make it fit on the stretched frame? There should still be a "rub pad" on the inside of the push arms near where that bolt goes through. But I have also seen the early TBs without rub bars at all. They may not be needed since the arms don't swing around like the swinging trunions do.

Hard to say. Cool stuff though.
