Default 225 mated with 58" bucket? Can it handle it?

I bought a 58" bucket for the 225 because it was dirt cheap. Would be nice to be able to dig with it in our sandy loam soil but kind of thinking this is only good for loose fill loading, dredging, etc? Can she pull it? Stock bucket is a 42"

The 58" bucket is too big for muckshifting with a 225, especially if you have a long stick, I've seen them twist. The big bucket will be harder to fill because it has a wider cutting edge and if you manage to fill it and put the stick out you could tip the machine over. It would be OK for finishing work and moving loose material only.

    Default Try it

    Hey FastLine,

Wider buckets are usualy made not as tall or deep. They may be wider, but don't normaly have more volume. I don't know if it's a factory made bucket or home made bucket. I suggest to put it on and try it. Be very careful when trying to find working limits, and keep the bucket close to the ground when finding them.-glen

As Glen said, be very careful finding what it can and can't do. While it may seem safe working out in front of the tracks, remember when you swing the house and are out over the side of the tracks as in loading a truck it's not gonna be near as stable.
