    Rich,

Looks like a pretty neat unit. I'll pm you about the 629. Thanks.

Default My Smith & Wesson 629

    S & W 629 007.jpgS & W 629 006.jpgS & W 629 005.jpg

For all of those that have asked, this is my S&W 629. I Really don't want to part with it at this point, I bought it just a couple months ago and haven't even taken it to the range yet. In Michigan all handguns must be registered with the State Police (yup, that Does suck!). I could only sell it to a Michigan resident with the proper pistol purchase permit, or to a Michigan FFL licensed dealer.

BTW, I Had a visit from one of our local Portage City Police officers the other night (nothing, no big deal). While chatting with the officer I noticed on his computer screen, my name, address, phone numbers and some other information along with a big "A" at the top of the page. I asked what the "A" was for and he told me that meant "Arsenal", and then scrolled down his computer screen and showed me a long list of all the handguns I had ever registered.

It makes my chest swell with pride knowing that I have achieved "Arsenal Status" with the Portage PD. I really hope the Police don't add an "M" to my page, that would indicate "Mental Issues". With the Cat's and all the other toys sitting around here, that "M" may not be too far away.

Actually you can sell the gun to an out of state person but it needs to go back to your favorite Dealer and then be transferred to the buyers favorite Dealer.
This is how they get sold and transferred on the Gun Selling websites.

I bought a D4600 power unit with no generator, but belt pulley, for $300 that was going to scrap. It was to be a parts engine, but was in too good shape to do that to it.

Rich, I know your pain, I hated to get rid of it but I had to sell my S&W model 500 mag 8 3/8 barrel with scope for project money. NY state is a pain about handgun transfer's & I loved hunting whitetails with it but Being retired there isn't as much disposable income kicking around somethings had to go.

Yeah, I know about inter-state transfers but it's a real pain in the... My buddy works at a large gun shop here in town and is in charge of internet sales and interstate transfers. I've heard some horror stories from him. If I do end up selling the 629 I will probably sell it to a dealer and let them worry about it. I have sold a couple handguns to private individuals but with our Michigan gun laws it's more trouble than it's worth. At least we can have (legal, ATF form 4 transferable) machine guns here now, and there's a bill floating through our state government to end the handgun registration process.

As of last year we can now legally have firecrackers and bottle rockets. It always seemed ironic that I have a federally licensed UZI sub machine gun, but my state wouldn't trust me to detonate a firecracker.

I've had some interest in my Ditch Witch, maybe the D4600 Genset could be mine in the near future!

I had a S&W 500 Magnum once too. Fun to shoot but a bit hard on the wrists. Roughly $2.50 per round took some of the fun out of it too.
