    Hi Swishy & edb,
That's a delayed action for sure
Yes, there are some boo boo's in the grader list.
For now let's just sit on the info.....that's a winter project for me anyway
Also looks like there may be a breakthrough on setting up archives
Lee, George, Joe and myself are scheduled for a conference call Tues. the 28th to see what's required and what can be done. Standby........definitely could use some of your services. When it gets there will be looking for ideas on how to lay stuff out and present it along with categories for the topics we discussed some time ago.

PS My wireless connection service is having some problems so my posts might be a little spotty

    RE:setting up archives

When U have the PowWow with others on the subject on the 28th
U need to determine what format to use
as some don't have pdf. format on the computer
    Best to use WYSIWYG (WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet)
I'm able to help an assist if you need the format done as a pic (as Above)
    available in jpg. bmp. gif.
to be printer friendly i make each page 1100 x 800 pixels wide (landscape)
or 800 x1100 pixels (Portrait) view to suit the A4 size paper
a few have problems in printing this format out, but mainly due to the print setup & configuration
I have over a 1000 pix (mainly as jpg.) in a few albums stored on a host site
I use Imageshack but am not 100% happy useing there site as I have lost a few pics there n can only edit an album if I pay or start reinstalling again from the 1st pic

Just my 2 cents worth from the udder side of the world
    LOL

    Hi swishy,
Got a couple of questions for you
As you well know the archives could run into 1000's of pages and doing them all in jpg would be a big pain. The beauty of the pdf format is that you can load both pictures and text without having to scan every single page. At least that's my take

Also I'm thinking more of an ACMOC storage than the photohost operations even though the freebee thing is attractive (up to a point)....also recall photobucket being more file access oriented than imageshack if we must go there. Still it seems to me the club ought to own the material and its storage/access. What's your take on file transfer if it should start out on a photo host and later be transfered to an ACMOC file......could be major issues of file size where everything would have to be resized.......bad.

U raise a cupla good points
Re:the archives could run into 1000's of pages
Q: Is all the info stored on paper as in service bulletins etc ready to scan or is it already setup as a PDF file, or even on a fiche film?
When U scan a page to pdf file it can misread some letters etc as seen when hitn on Google Patent some aren't perfect in translation
the advantage of scanning to a PDF file: is just about anyone could do it
Scanning as a jpg (Picture file) spose there ain't many th@ can or R willing to do it other than me on a limited basis
scanning as a jpg I can alter n change parts of document th@ have aged and are not 100% readable I can Sharpen or lighten them up to makem readable or should I say more readable than the original. the other advantage is a jpg pic page is displayed as WUSIWYG where by a pdf is a file name to click on to retreive info
Q: do U see th@ the pages @ Old Magnets Caterpillar Tractor Operation & Restoration Files an advantage or disadvantage being able to view each page up front??
