Default gwhdiesel75 How Did You Do It?

    GWH,

I'm confused (happens a lot to me) how did you get to post so many pictures of Jim Zimmerman's Parts...etc, when I post around 7 pictures and go over a quota? Like O.M. I had to delete from previous posts to upload the last two in "shop floors". What is the trick?

Well Gosh, 7uPuller, I don't have the slightest idea. Each segment or posting in a thread will accept up to 5 photos, so I just keep posting replies to my own thread and put 5 photos on each reply.

Actually, until I started reviewing posts today, I was not aware that storage space is limited for each member. I can assure you that I am not treated any differently than you are. Or if I am treated differently (better), I'm not even aware of it. But I shouldn't be any differently or better than you are, and don't believe I am.

Joe advises me that he took the maximum photographic storage space that is assigned to the bulletin board, divided it by the number of anticipated users, and the sum from that calculation represents the maximum photographic storage space which each bb user gets. There is a reason for doing this. If one wants to make our bb go out of service, there are programs available that will submit more than the total photographic storage space available, and it will crash the system. And we know from our experience in months past with pornographic materials being posted to our bb, that there are those angry nuts out there who will do these things. I don't belive any of our members are engaged in this, but there are nuts out there that troll the Internet looking for vulnerable sites.

Joe is thinking this over, and will be giving us some advice about alternatives perhaps as early as tomorrow night, so that we can figure out the best way to ensure adequate posting space and at the same time limiting the potential for crashing the site.

By the way, Joe advises that he did the same with the ACME site, and that there have been no problems there.

But if from what I read, Old Magnet and others can't post any more than a few photographs, then we have a problem that needs to be resolved.

Thanks for your comments. They are not being ignored.

    GWH,
What I'm experiencing is that when posting pictures there must be a 1000kb limit on picture posting. I noticed that when I go to "User CP" link and scroll all the way to the bottom to "attachments" it shows all posts with a meter count on the picture kb's. Currently I have 9 pictures with 960 kb's. No more room for more. If I want more I have to delete to create storage room. Like O.M. said, it looses archive capability .

Thank you for hearing me. -Glen

    Quota is Quota,
You may get away with posting more "Ma and Pa" at the tractor show low grade , low file size pics before you hit the wall but you're going to get there eventually if you keep posting.
