    Default Gear Oil

Any one ever hear of a brand called "AcceL"? It's sold by Parts America and Advanced Auto. I can't find much of anything on it, online. It has a GL 5 rating. If anyone knows anything, let me know. It's much less expensive than most brands but because I can't find anything on them, I'm leary of using it in my old grader transmission.

    Mark,

I have not heard of Accel lubricants.

But be aware that most GL-5 gear oils have high concentrations of zinc in them. They were really designed for hypoid gears. Most GL-5 and GL-6 gear oils will attack yellow metals. So if your transmission has any brass, bronze or copper in it, do not use it. The exception is many synthetic lubes. If the lubricant has a MT rating on the can or bottle, then it is safe for Manual Transmissions. Otherwise stay with a GL-1 through GL-4 for transmissions with any yellow metals.
