    Question Single Cylinder D4

I tried to get the D4 running today, no luck. This D4 has a rebuilt head and new injectors and fuel filter but has not run in about 4 years.

The pony is bad so we drug it with a wheel tractor for about a half mile. I had already checked the fuel supply to the lift pump and filled the tank.

While in 4th gear, comp open, I bled the filter and had a good squirt of fuel coming from the bleeders behind the injection pumps. Now with comp closed I'm only getting fuel to one injector. I have tried various combinations of throttle open/closed, injector lines open/closed but three remain dry. It's a warm day and the head was hot from all the dragging and the one firing cylinder, so cold is not an issue. The engine will run on a shot of either.

    What am I missing?

    G'day Carl,

had the same problem the the 4g, it was running on 2 pots only. When I pulled the injection pump down I found that 2 of the injector plungers were seized in the barrel. pulled it all down and cleaned it out.

May pay to pull all your injectors lines off the top of the fuel pumps and do your drag start again to see if the all the pumps are "spitting", if they aren't you will have to pull the fuel pump down and clean it out.

But it may just need more bleeding.
    Macca,

Take the side cover off the fuel injection pump housing and check to see which lifters are stuck. Sometimes you can free them up with your favorite penetrant
    and a little prying.

I think OM has the right idea. We had to do that on my neighbors D46U after it had set about 5 years. A little kroil and the next day they popped loose. Use a little Kroil and a lot of patience.
