    Default D13000 fuel transfer pump

    I'm having some trouble getting proper fuel flow through my D13000 powering a large leroy air compressor. Hasn't run for a couple years. Got it fired up and it ran fine for a few minutes and sputtered out. The fuel flow through the bleeders on the filter housing is coming in spurts. Took the bottom of the transfer pump and cleaned this part. I don't have a book for this engine only for my 14a and it's different. I assume the fuel systems are similar but I sure would like the right pictures before I take it all apart. I'm guessing some crud stuck under a check valve or something. I spent some time searching for a fuel system diagram but haven't had any luck. This big compressor sure beats my little shop air blowing the dirt and crap out of machines. Anybody have a fuel system picture for a D13000? Thanks. B

    it will basically be the same as a d6600 in the 3 cylinder d6's, if you have any 3t' d7's around that is a very similar system as well. check your filters and make sure they are not plugged, do you have a fuel pressure guage? can you cut an inner tube clamp it over the fuel tank filler spout and pressurize the fuel tank to 2 or 3 psi to help in the bleeding process?

    It does have a pressure gage. It is not making pressure properly. The weird part is that the fuel is pumping in spurts. Not an even stream. I am thinking a gear pump would flow the fuel evenly. Rmyram did you log up around Watson lake in the late 90's? Thanks.

    One more thing. Does anyone know the part number for D13000 fuel filters? There are 9 skinny filters in the housing if I remember right. Same as D8 2U I think.

    yes should be same as 2u filter set up.

    my uncle Ray logged around watson lake about 20 years ago, his brother Jim may have also been there at the same time.

    i was still in high school.

    we went to watson lake last year for vacation

    I watched/helped Ray retrieve a burn't Koehring 625 feller buncher off a really steep mountain. He had a D7G. That guy knew how run it! I've been working on that dang compressor all day. Took it all apart again and did notice the filters having dry diesel/wax around the top. Cleaned them as best as possible and rinsed the whole housing out with gas. Going to pressure it up with air next. Starting to think the transfer pump is weak. I did notice some rust on some of the gears in the pump.

    Thanks for the part numbers Gemdozer. Well I got it to run. There is more to the story though. Did the air pressure to the tank, which is lower than the engine, and got fuel coming up. I think I read on a post here about only opening one bleeder at a time. Takes a long time to get fuel at the injector lines on top the pumps. I think the injector corresponding to the first pump is shot. Major bubbling coming back through the injector line. Makes no difference in the running whether that one is tight or loose spraying out fuel. Are these injectors similar to those used in the 14a? Similar meaning repairable? I think the main source of air was back feeding from the injector into the fuel system.

    yes he is one heck of a cat skinner, his oldest brother jim was a fine operator as well, both of them shifted dirt on various machines for over fifty years. amazing to watch.

    sounds like you nozzle is pooched, they are replaceable, i would think a 2u injector would be the same, not certain though.

    D13000/2U uses the same flat seat type injector. The 14A uses capsule injectors.
