    Default Hydralic Valve

I just installed a dent valve on my D4 dozer. The blade leaks down,do you have to back off the dent so it wont leak down.I took the valve off my log splitter,I had trouble with it leaking down with another valve on it.Could there be a problem with something else besides the valve?
    Thanks Joe

Most likely thing is one or both of the cylinder piston seals.

You might be able to tell which it is by holding the lever in the raise position for some extended period of time and feeling the heat buildup over the piston in the leaking cylinder.

Other than that, you will have to raise/jack up the blade, disconnect some lines and plug things off to isolate the cylinders from each other and the valve so you can let the jack down and see which side leaks down. With the cylinders connected together like normal, you cannot tell which cylinder is the problem since the oil moves across from side to side as it leaks.
