Default No 60 Scraper - Quantity of Paint for Respraying?

I'm in the process of getting a quote for having my No 60 scraper shot blasted and resprayed ready for the Castle Cement working weekend in early July.

I was going to supply the Cat Hi-way Yellow paint to the spray company, can anyone provide any guidance of the quantity of paint that will be needed for this respray from past experience?

    Thanks, David

Pete, can you remember the quantity of paint you needed when you resprayed your No 60?

Is your scraper the early 1D or the later 2W model?

Painting things is just too much trouble. Let me know if I can take it off your hands.

When you shoot your primer, try to buy your primer tinted to yellow by your paint dealer. Zinc Chromate primer is a good choice. It will save you about half the needed amount of paint that will be needed. Yellow paint does not cover well and it takes a few coats to hide another color. On my D4 7U, I used 4 gallons of hiway yellow over Zinc Chromate primer and I still could have used another coat in places to hide everything or about another two gallons. I didn't paint the face of my blade or my track pads because I knew that I would quickly wear it away.

We are guessing we may have used 3 to 4 galls !, but cant be sure , as was long ago!, also it will depend on how good and how many coats etc... as you will know!. Hope this helps. Post a picture , if you get a chance.. Regards, Peter.

    Pete,
My scraper is serial number 1D 1061, I'll post a picture of it later today, when i can access my picture files.

I brought the scraper box first, followed aftewards by a 9U to pull it.

Thanks everybody for the information \ hints on painting.
