Question CAT 10 Ring and Pinion

I have 2 transmissions for my project tractor. One has the ring and pinion on the Left side and the other has the ring and pinion on the Right side.
    Can anyone tell me why?
Which one is correct for a Standard width Tractor?

I am guessing that one of those transmissions were either put together wrong or it could be that one of them are set up for a High Clearance tractor. The ring gear needs to rotate the other direct to make up for the additional intermediate gear in the final drives that a standard TEN does not have. This way you can still move forward in a forward gear! What are the serial numbers that are stamped into the housings?

I believe Chad is dead on regarding his HighTen comments and the additional gear in the HighTen causing the needs for the reversed ring and pinion.

    Engine- CW
    Tranny pinion-CCW
    Ring gear-CW
    Final pinion-CCW
    Bull gear-CW
I would say looking from the rear, Ring gear on the Right. I havn't had one apart for awhile.

    Steve is correct,

Ring gear on a standard TEN is on the right side. (always from operators perspective)

Default WyoCat asked about Serial numbers

One is 3889 and the other is 4509.
I feel stupid because I forgot to check and see which had the left pinion and one the right.

I would bet money on the PT 3889 tractor being the one set up as a high TEN. I would be curious to know if this is the case. If you could let us know I would appreciate it! Have a great day!

    Default I don't know now!

PT3889 is the one that when you spin the Transmission input shaft clockwise and go through all 4 gears the clutches spin backwards in 3 gear selections.

Which with a Bull gear in the final drive would make the track axle go forward.
Wouldn't this be correct for a standard?

WyoCat how would you know that is the transmission case that was setup for a high ten just by the serial number?

I made a mistake on the other transmission case its PT4501 not PT4509.
If it makes a difference at this point.

Actually before I hit send, I am still confused about the direction of input verses the direction of axle movement?

Because if you face your watch/clock and "start" it in a CW direction. Then walk around back of the watch/clock it now looks like it running CCW. Which would be the input to the transmission which would be operators perspective, hence Input is CCW.

Engine- CW from front because you put the crank in and pull up in a clockwise motion? Yes or No??
Tranny input - operators perspective would then be CCW
Tranny ouput pinion-would then be CW
Ring gear-direction thru clutches would need to be CCW
Final drive bull gear-would be CW

So it would have to be the left ring gear is correct which means 3889 is a Standard???
