    Default Southern California Playday

Last November I hosted an informal unofficial playday, and it turned out really well. We had 3 D2s, 2 D4s, a Sixty, a JD 40c and a bunch of pull toys like scrapers and a grader. You can see some vids at the link in my signature. Everyone who attended seemed to have fun, and I've been asked when I'm going to do it again.

Well I would like to do it again, and I would like to make it official. I think October is a good month, things are cooling off and we are not yet on the slippery holiday slope to the New Year. And, hopefully some of you have recovered from Woodland.

    So my questions are:
How does one go about getting an event sanctioned?

Are there any other shows or events in October that may conflict?
    (this includes other related organizations)

Does ACMOC provide any seed moneys for local events, and/or do events do anything to collect donations for ACMOC?
(for example I belong to the California Blacksmith Association, and at every official event there are fundraisers like auctions and drawings to benefit the organization)

Is there anything else I should know?

    Thanks

    CARL:

October 11 is our annual Pioneer Day in Paso Robles and I know quite a few of the gang will be here for the parade and show to follow. Don Hunter, Carson Wiley, Jess, Willie, Fred Heidrick was talking about coming this year and all of the local gang will be on hand to drive the old crawlers down the main drag of PR.

That is the only conflict I am aware of.

See you in Woodland next week.

Looks like early November is going to work out better, no known conflicts.

I'm guessing by the lack of response by anyone at ACMOC that they don't get involved in such things, its more of a local chapter matter.

We do have a chapter in So Cal, but it is inactive due to lack of interest, altho there seem to be a fair number of enthusiasts here. Would anyone be interested in trying to revitalize this chapter? Any thoughts or comments?

    Carl;

They had an article on what was required to start an ACMOC chapter many years ago in the newsletter. The requirements were very expensive and extensive. Legal and money issues made starting a chapter very difficult at best.

    Thanks for all the responses.
KoO, I'm not sure how we would go about giving it away as there is no "meeting" time. Any ideas are welcome. I appreciate your offer.

Mike, It would fantastic to have the HO, however if it's not finished I guess you can come anyway.

D4e I think we're shootin for the first weekend, altho Saturday or Sunday is not final, if anyone would like to weigh in.

Lance, looks like it won't time out right, altho you are welcome anytime, i can show you around a little. PM or email me.

Mack, I thought there was already a chapter established, it just needed some members/interest.
