    Default Pony cam gear install

    Just got my replacement cam gear for my D47U Pony engine.Some of the teeth on the old aluminum cam gear were broke off so I do not know how to correctley time the cam gear to the crank gear.Did a search but no luck.What would be the correct alignment of these two gears?Thanks for any help. Don

    Default Camshaft

    The crank gear will have a mark and the cam gear will have two marks and the one is to line up with the crank gear the the other one is for the magneto gear to mesh with. I,ve put a truck load of them together but been so long ago since I retired I can,t remember what the markings are but look at them & I,m sure you can figure it out.

    Just worked on a D4 7U this morning, align the "C" on the cam gear to the "C" on the crank gear, and the "M" on the cam gear to the "M" on the mag gear.

    Default Pony reassemble

    Thanks SJ and Toby,that information is what I needed as I have never been inside one of these engines.So now it's parts cleaning for a couple of days then reassemble the pony and hope I did it right,thanks again,Don Alves.

    Default Cam Gear Torque

    Well I forgot to ask the most important question,what do I torque the Cam nut to? Thanks again,Don Alves.

    Default Cam Gear

    If you tighten it up good and bend the lock over to hold the nut in place it should be enough.
