    Default Old Age

This old buck said there is three things that go when you get older and he said first your eye sight and next your memory and he stood there for a minute and then scratched his his head and said, I CAN,T REMEMBER WHAT THE OTHER ONE WAS.

    Default Cat 983 serial number

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and recently acquired a 983 track loader (I think mid to late 70's but not sure). It's a great machine but I can't find a serial number on it which makes it difficult to order parts. Any ideas as to where it might be located?.. Thanks

Try the RH loader tower between the main lift ram pivot and boom pin, the firewall in front of the pedals and he back end case towards the top LH corner, if you can find the rivet holes where the original plate was (if the plates are missing) clean the paint between them and you should find the number stamped in the base metal.
