the clutch packs I have, there are 12 bimetalic discs and I don't have a measure, but it was 3 and 3/8, wondering if I should remove some discs to get to tolerance,
Thanks

According to the info at www.steeringclutch.com the 12 count per clutch is ok.
Might check with them if you have questions.
The semi-metallic discs migrated from the 933 11A and was a twelve count but the inner and outer drums are a different part number.
I guess you'll find out if you bottom out the springs before you can get the keepers on.
Got to be somebody on here who has done this recently on this model.
I saw that website, I've been thinking about the clutch pack being thicker, If its is thicker, it seems like it would move the trow out bearing farther back and it would loose adjustment in the clutch linkages, I don't quite know for sure, I'm going to do a litte more studing,
thanks Old Magnet for the chart you posted![]()

Yes, that's what happens and the result is you can't get the keepers on.
I used a new set of 12 and 12 of the metallic discs on a D2 5U, the clutch packs assembled without any problem and there was sufficient travel on the linkages. I did measure a set of 12 of the bi-metallic and a 12 of the plain steel discs and had a thickness of 3-1/16", I guess you will find out when you try to put the keepers on. If your steel discs are rusty you could sand them down to help the tolerances.

I agree with Josh,I have got the left side of mine done with 12 of each kind of disc.It went together well .The Farmer
Thanks Josh,
That's good to know.
The D4 will also handle an extra 3/16 in.....maybe the D2 is similar.
R4Pat,
Can you let us know what your final installation pack thickness is.
Yeah, I'm still thinking about what to do, I have a stack of 11 bimetalic disks and 11 metal disks and come up with a measure of 3 and 1/16, I don't know if the discs may be made by another manufacturer, I will keep you all posted on what I decide to do,
