Default need info on "new' D7 3T

I am new to the forum but could use some help. I just bought a D7 3t but the serial numbers for the engine don't match the frame serial numbers on the back. I would sure appreciate if someone could straighten this out for me. The engine serial is 3T10917 and the serial on the back reads 4T8471. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any info.

The engine has been changed.....the 4T is the military version of the 3T.

    Default thanks for the info

this had me puzzled because for some reason I didn't think of the engine having been changed. well, I'm gonna look at all of the adjustments or lack of adjustmeent on the clutches brakes and so on, I only paid 2500 for it and drove it on and off the shippers trailer so I can do a little to it. May end up being a lot though. Again thanks for the information.

    Default d73t clutch adjustment

Well I'm gonna stand on my head and try to adjust the main clutch today and the brakes if I can get the adjustments to break loose. Looks like someone with short legs ran this machine as the rods from the pedals to the brakes are adjusted as short as they will go. Since I'm 6'4" and not so young any more I think I'll move em out a bit as I feel like a grasshopper with my feet folded under me when my feet are sitting on those pedals as they are only about 4 inches from the fuel tank and my leg goes out about 8 inches. This oughta be a load of fun if the adjusters are as rusted as they look. I'm hoping it's dirt and old grease!

You should get the serviceman's reference book,(S.R.B.0 maybe O.M. can post a the section on the clutch adjustment, kind of straight forward, good time to grease the bearing on the driven plate between the 2 friction plates, should be a zerk on the edge of the driven plate, rotate the clutch till it turns up, don't over do it, not sure if there is a specific or preferable grease type for this, you don't want it flung out onto the friction pads. The SRB mentions not to adjust the length of the clutch linkage rod and crank that actuates the clutch, as they are factory set, it states doing this can interfere with the trans/clutch interlock mechanism.

The tractor should be a late 1945 manufacture, motor is an early 3T model, they commenced in 1944, so maybe 1945-1946 on that, + you should find some O.D. green under the paint being a 4T, might also find a military tag somewhere.

    Default thanks for the information

I got the main clutch adjusted and greased the fitting. The brake rods are gonna have to be soaked in a little wd for a while. I broke em loose but they only want to go half a turn. Maybe a little work with a wire brush, we'll se. Again thanks for the information.
