d2 transmission

I was wondering how many gallons or oil will it take to fill the transmission and also i was wondering on the top shaft where the 3 bolts holt the bearing and the top shaft to the housing i had one ot the bolts break off and i was wondering if some one can tell me why. Then the broken bolt got under the gears in the trani and broke them it was not good i just got them out and now i am ready to go back in with the new ones when i get them thanks vern

I don,t have a D2 book but the early 933 which is a basic D2 says it holds 2 gal. of Tranny oil.I don,t have any idea why the bolt broke in it unless it was over torqued at on time and in time the stress let it go and it broke off.

My book calls for 8 qts. of SAE 90W for normal temps. Finals are 4-1/2 qtrs. each.
