    Willie,

If HollandCat hooks the cable to QAUD and makes him pull it, Quad may get tired. They better use the DW6 LOL

Willies advice is the way to do it. Cut the cable ends with a cable cutter, or disc cut-off saw .. use the oxy-torch to just melt and weld the wires together (can get messy and smokey if the cables are oiled) .. smooth off any lumps with a small angle grinder .. hook your 4WD pickup to the cable, and pull it through steadily and slowly, with someone else feeding the new cable in, straight and without twists .. and watching for any snags or catching. A cable stand to hold the reel is good .. this feeds the cable off without twists.

Gilbert - Do you have the G.T Barnard, Caterpillar Illustrated Product Guide - 1889-1969, book? It has the chart in it that shows all the cable threading for the No 60. It's a huge double-page chart .. so if you don't have a copy, and would like one .. I can get a copy made and mail it to you, if you wish. It's too large to scan. Regards - Ron.

    Gilbert,

Yes from the back to the front. Disconnect wire rope from ccu. Then take out wedge from rear. Weld new wire rope to old at rear. (I put 300 roll on) Pull new cable to front as someone feeds from rear. when you get enough new cable up front, cut old cable off where welded and put on ccu. Place wedge on rear, Leave excess cable on drum, leave attached, do not cut after placing rear wedge. Most cable usually wears first 15-20', when it's bad, simply remove rear wedge pull 20' forward and replace wedge. There should be a stud rod on rear for cable drum with wing nut to secure drum.-glen

    Hi, Glen.
You sound as if you've either done it or seen it done a time or three. LOL. Well put.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes.
