Default Timing On Pony Motor On D6 9u

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good afternoon , The impuse coupling broke on my distributor and I installed a new one on my pony motor , Now when I turn it over evertime it goes to fire , the starter almost comes to a complete stop and then with turn over fast again , I can get it to start , but I think it is a little out of time, can I adjust the mag ?

    Thank you

Unless you are a tooth off on you timing when you installed the mag and you need to correct that, you cannot adjust the magneto timing.

Sounds as if your battery or starter motor is sort of weak.

If your mag housing has the slotted holes some minor adjustment of the point opening (and timing) can be achieved by rotating the unit to where the points just begin to open for the #1 firing position.

Any time major work has been done to the mag the edge distance should be checked and reset if needed.

When you changed the impulse unit did you match the replacement with the exact same parts....there are different degree advance units.
