    Default My new D7's

I had a old friend who had a couple of D7's one is a 6T with a siezed engine and a newer 3T in pretty good condition got them both for a $1000 !!! I will try and attach some pics. I was wanting to take the hard nose off of the 6T and put on the 3T along with the trunions and double drum, but the winch got scraped acouple of years ago, got the blade and all the blocks for the front but no winch. So I might look into going hydraulic, just wanted to stay original. So I am diving off deep into the caterpillar venture. I purchased a International TD 14A with a IH blade and a D4 7U pull tractor for $2500 last week. I will post pics of them in the next couple of days. Plus I had a D2 given to me that needs to be reassembled. 0-5 in 1 month! Just depends on who you know I guess!

    Thumbs up

Sounds like you had a great month and starting to have some good times . I wish you good luck with them. My goal is to pace myself to one tractor purchase a year. Sometimes they come in groups as you stated and that is a busy and great time that my wife can not understand.

My wife does not understand either, They are ugly tractors to her!! Good projects I actually live up by the Piute Fire Station, my Dad lives on Rosedale west of Nord rd, that 's where the Red tractor and the D4 will be for a couple of months. The IH TD14 is a step child to all these yellow tractors, but I sure like it! I have a D8H 46A sittin in my drive way that my uncle bought about 2 months ago. We are fixing some small items that have been let go for a few years then we will landscape my property Here are a couple of pics of the D8 at my house, gota finish it to make more parking for the others!

I must live in the wrong area.....everyone around here thinks if it's got tracks it's gold plated!

Wish I were a bit closer.....I'd come and steel that D2...LOL.

Great month for you....all i could find reasonable was a TD5

That D8 is a sweet machine. It can get the work done in a hurry and you will have fun doing it. It is a popular machine in our area for building logging roads and for clearing land.

The D8H will sure spoil you lots of power, power assist clutch and brakes makes operating a breeze! I sure like the simplicity and the cost difference of mait on the older machines. Besides, you have to have a crane to work on the D8H. Even the D8-2U's are small compared to this machine.

    Default THAT Ripper.

    Hi, 1sugg.
Great 'fishing' and welcome to the 'Yellow Iron Funny Farm'.

Just out of 'kew-ree-ossity' and if it's not a rude question, what make is the 'backscratcher' on that D8H? The shanks look as if they may be Cat but I've never seen a Cat ripper that looked like that one.

Re the 2U's being small compared with the D8H, there was only(?) about a 9-ton jump in size between the two models, in various steps through several other models.

That 6T D7 even has the spare cable reel peg on the left side of the hard nose. About all you need for that is a Cat #25 DDCCU and the power take-off shaft. (He, he, he.)

Keep those photos coming. You've landed amongst photo piranha's here.

The rippers on the D8 are made by,
Shaw Sales and Service Los Angles CA
    Model# TR,
    size 21,
    SN 475
The previous owner used it to rip vinyards, One shank has been broken and rewelded. The rippers do need to be cut down, they are only about 6" off the ground when fully raised.
I would like to get another double drum to put on the D7.
