Default I am looking for a way to make a three point for my D2.

If any one has a D2 5U with a three point hitch can you please share some pictures or information on how I can make one? I am looking to run a three point post hole auger from my PTO and am looking for advice. Thank you, Paul.

We once had JD 40C with factory installed 3-point. We didn't like it at all, took it off and sold it to some other sucker. They hang the weight of the implement way too far back of the sprocket and limit the turning capability something terrible. We far preferred drawbar tools in the orchard. Then we moved up to the gold (yellow) standard of tractors--a D2 5J which we are still running 40 years later.

Just be dead sure this hitch is what you want before you commit a big wad of cash.

might be easier/cheaper to make a drawbar pull tool carrier with hydraulic wheels to go up & down, and a quick detatch three point mount. I know its not exactly the same as a tractor mount but might be something to think about.

Old Magnet made a well designed and fabricated three point hitch about 5 years ago on this board for his D4. I believe there was room on his design for the factory PTO If I recall correctly.

I believe it was Cat spotter who made one for his Cat 22?

The problem with the D2 is the rear case is weak on that tractor and I have seen more than one tractor that had the lower rear casting broken where the vertical drawbar supports connect to the tractor.

For an auger this might not be an issue however it would be real tempting to use that three point hitch for other uses. If you do build a hitch I would suggest a rear plate on the back of the tractor, then underneath of the tractor some heavy structural steel shape connecting to where the drawbar normally attaches. I would also have supports on the top of the transmission cover similar to how the Hyster winch connects to the top of the tractor.

    Default Thank you all !

Thank you all for the pictures and advice. I think it is more than I am looking to build. If I find one for sale then I will consider it. It is great to have such a helpful group to turn to. Thanks again, Paul.
