Default D7 3t sparks behind clutch brake?

Running my dozer the other day and noticed smoke, took off the inspection cover and there are sparks coming from behind the clutch brake. Anybody know what is causing this? I am new to dozers, just bought it a year ago and finally got some time to play with it. Worked fine for 4 days, have alot of pushing to do and don't want to ruin anything. Any help is appreciated!

Does it grind when you try to put it in a gear? I could see that the clutch brake might overheat if the pilot bearing in the flywheel was seized and the clutch/transmission input shaft was always turning. Have you greased the fitting on the outer edge of the flywheel that goes into the pilot bearing?

Most likely means the lining is down to the rivets if the sparks are from the brake itself.

It grinds a little when it popped out of reverse a couple times. Shifting from foreward to reverse it shifts fine. Dozer has a Cat cable setup on it. The sparks look to be coming from behind the clutch brake out of the rear housing.

Is that an oil clutch model? Sounds like you are out of brake lining and running on the shoe (steel).

The oil clutch will have an exposed u-joint coupling with the transmission brake drum attached to it and the brake shoe on the LH side. If you have one you also need to know there is a fill plug and dip stick or the RH side of the flywheel housing...takes same oil as engine.
