I decided to spend a couple (2) days Rained in with bad weather working on one of my Cat 30 Projects, Known as the smoking Gun over many years of history see Piccy no1, This is one cat 30 Seized Solid Minus Engine Etc (as is in piccy number one),, I purchased the Weapon about 6 years ago and saved this CAT from the melt pot
, found in a junk yard in ca.
In the last 2 days I have managed to spend some time with my tear down tools:- inc 14 Lb sledge, 6 Lb Club, 3 Lb hammer, 2 Lb hammer 1 LB Hammer, different sizes of Copper Hammers, Steel / Brass Drifts, The Gas-Axe, 1/2 " Drive Impact Wench, 1 " Impact Wench, Industrial Combo Wrenches, Prybars / Chisels, a quart of Kroil, and a few home made toolsTypically the General Cat Tear down tools
.
I managed to take a couple of piccys on route. See attached.
Does Cat Inc still stock the main shaft and layshaft/ final drive shafts for a 1928 Cat 30 ?, I can see myself making some Forging and re-cutting the Shafts, Anyone else need any cat 30 Pinion Shaft/gear, or Bulldrive Gear Assy, I might be getting a couple remade, if I dont find any good ones.
The Smoking Gun is in Pieces, but with time, new bearings and shafts / gears, etc etc etc etc etc etc The Smoking Gun Will be Back, Its a Labour of love, Jnr CM Louis wants to paint the "smoking Gun" RED, Bright Red, if thats the case when I would Like to Add the Orange Flames down the Side LOL, It must be grey or OZDOZER will get the CAT Police onto me
