    Default 955 12A Traxcavator Progress

    955 12A Traxcavator Progress

Today I reassembled the pony motor carburetor & related items. All fresh & clean! If you look close at the one picture you will see a drain valve for the pony motor float bowl. I did this modification on my D2 and it worked OK. Eventually I’ll get a sediment bowl – but for now I have an in-line filter. I got it all finished as the sun was going down. So, I didn’t put gas in it yet – nor try to start it. If you look closely at the other picture you will see a 12 volt automobile coil laying there (not remounted yet). The prior owner has this device hooked into the magneto (somehow). I guess the magneto became weak so that’s the reason for the 12 volt coil. The points in the magneto control the spark – through the 12 volt coil. It seems to have good spark. Question… is this something I should stay with – or – should I refurbish the magneto back to the original?
