I just joined ACMOC and am looking forward to interfacing with other Cat owners. I'm presently restoring a D2 5U12142 that I rescued from a farm in upstate NY. Its a solid machine with 4000 hrs. The farmer I got it from left it outside without the stack covered so I did a valve job and am presently doing the rings. I got the pony running fine so but it would not start from lack of compression due to stuck rings.

    Default Yes, Neil,

Yes, Neil, the now restored D2 came from rack and ruin. And now the newly acquired 955 12A was pulled from the weeds. Someday I would like to actually buy a Caterpillar that can move onto the trailer under its own power.

Team good to hear from you all. My machine is a front blade, rear drawbar with rear hydraulic hookup for lifting disks and other implements. Good to know there are other guys crazy enough to drag 3 tons of dead steel into the garage. When I bought this machine my wife remarked there was a twinkle in my eye. I was forced into retirement last August and has given me something to work on besides the "honeydo" list

Must be you left a pile of parts outside the garage?
