    Default New Cat Hauler

    Good Morning,
Thought you all would like to see my new Cat hauler. My requirements were:
    1) Somewhat unique
    2) Cheap
    3) Cat power
Been dickerin' for a year and finally closed the deal Friday and drove her home. Hopefully I'll post an "after" picture in a year.

Good looking old truck. Can't see the pump all that well. Is that an "A" or "B" model 3406?

I see now. Its a "B". Does it have jakes?

No Jake. I've got a lot to learn about the engine. There's only 260k miles on it and it sounds good. I need to find out what is involved in adding a Jake.

    Default Jake Brake

I have installed quite a few Jakes on them at the Cat dealer years ago and it,s not too complicated so just go by the instructions.

If you historic tag it insurance is not that bad on a road tractor. I just went through it. I am trying to post some pics but the wifes laptop is not coperating. If anyone needs the broker I went through send me a pm.

For antique trucks check with gulfway insurance in florida. You will be pleased with their prices and it allows you to pull your trailers and haul your toys to shows. I had my 69 white 9000 antique plated and insured with them for under $400 per year, including my 72 lowboy trailers coverages.

    Default Gulfway.

I'll second what Kansas Cat said.

I have a 1983 Peterbilt, 1969 Freightliner and 1942 Trailmobile insured through Gulfway for right at $400.00 per year. I can drive, tow and haul anything I want, as long as its not for commercial purposes.

The policy is a Traveler Insurance Company policy, a quality company with whom you will not have a problem if there is a claim.

I called them based upon Orrin's recommendation. They were easy to deal with, just needing a description of the equipment, normal basic information and emailed pictures.

They are the bees knees as far as I am concerned.

    Default For Thomas84

Tom I never saw but one Cat truck engine in a Mack and it came into the Cat dealer for me to repair. There could have been more put in but as I said that was the first and only one I ever saw in a Mack.I guess if you order and pay the price you can get what you want in a truck.
