New D4 owner

I am the new owner of a D4, electric start pony motor, pony motor runs good, big motor runs good, under carrage is in good shape. It does need some work and first on the list is a exhaust manifold. As far as identifying it the number stamped on the back is 2T 779 1942-1943? The number on the block lower right 8B2746 is? a part number? Thanks for any info and help

That engine is the D4400. Parts are getting pretty scarce for that engine. Gaskets and such aren't a problem, but hard parts like pistons, liners, bearings, etc. are pretty tough to find new but good used are still available.

I am about an hour north of madison. Is an exhaust manifold a hard part, because that is first on my list of things to get. Is the 4400 a reliable motor? or should I start freaking out now
