Well, the discussion has gone full circle. That was the reason the post was originated. Doesn't seem to be much of a concern by the current arrangement.
How many models do you want???

"You can't fix problems using the same thinking that created them" Albert Einstein .
I have been sitting back watching this post go on and there is no answers here yet. For some they will start a new club and take there knowledge with them and others will sit back and wait for others to do all the work. May be we will all have to build our own technical resources.

Well, looks like attitudes haven't changed much. Mike, I'd suggest you Aussies do the UK thing and be done with it.

GP,
You can "Google" until hell freezes over but unless there is a consistent format it just isn't going to work and you wind up wasting your time.

"Google" for sure will be completely incapable of searching scanned images and I suspect a lot of the material will be in that form.

I'm hoping we have a computer expert in our Club who can give us some good info on this library project but I suspect they are not here on the Bulletin Board regularly or they would have answered by now, I reckon we might need to put a story in the next magazine asking for help, in the mean time I know Wombat has the bit between his teeth and is searching high and low for answers because he can see the need for the upgrade, he tried doing some searching today and found it sadly lacking.

It is interesting to see how many Committees we have and the number of people currently on those Committees, I was thinking we didn't have enough volunteers, I've been contacted by TW about helping on the Nominations Committee and will do what I can there, though finance and money are our biggest concerns going into 2016 and 2017 so hopefully the Finance Committee has all the fire power from skilled finance experts it needs.

Are there any other Committees needing help?

OK, after doing some considerable and boring reading I've read this entire thread. Now it's obvious that some on here have plenty of free time and funds to spend on travel, toy and their collections. Others, myself included are not by any mean broke but don't have money to just toss around. Time for some is another consideration. Some are working, others are running businesses and others like me have commitments that restrict travel. I do grand pa's day care for 3 little girls. Off an on I can travel but only for several days at a time without prior planning.

Keeping that in mind, what can I do to help? I do have a son with a degree in computers who is currently working as a network engineer. So the computer issues I can bounce off of him for a solution. Send me a PM and I'll see what he can come up with for answers. But is there anything else I can do to help? I don't have the money to donations of any significance but I do have some time I can devote providing I can do it from home.

Well, since many of us are chiming in with ways to help the club and forum, I might as well add my $.02. I am not a paying member of the club, but would pay in a second for access to technical articles and "how to" sections (ie. convert a 9U to oil clutch as I just went through this). I would also be first in line to pay small fees for individual parts book/SRB pages. To me, these are great ideas and we need to have these things. As someone said up above, books, magazines, etc. are a dying technology. We need these things accessible online through the forum if possible. As far a selling models goes, I have no experience with this. However, having watched the forum for 5+ years, I notice the vast majority of the conversation here is based around technical questions about fixing these old machines. If that is the bulk of the conversation, that's where people's needs and interests are. We need to focus on this. Making available manuals, technical sheets, "how to's" etc. is something (I feel) people would pay for. I also feel the number of people willing to pay for a model is tiny in comparison to this. Of those many forum members who visited very few times, I'll bet many had a repair to make and looked for the info. they needed. If they were able to find it for free they did and didn't come back. Why not make a dollar or two off of this valuable information by having special access to it? Thanks for listening. Joel

Simple solution to that is it bothers you that much don't read it. Shouldn't prevent you from participating in the rest of the discussions.
Or just go off in a huff as so many have done already and long before this topic arose.
