That's pesty but at least you "had the hood open" anyway. You could have just "mistimed" the camshaft to get the relationship right but I think you're like me and that just wouldn't do. Looking forward to that video! My 5U is around at my buddy's place pulling out undergrowth. I REALLY need to get new undercarriage on it : ) Well, I have the new carport built so it'll be coming home in fall to get that work done finally

Cheers,
Neil

The pony motor sputtered to life finally. I had to swap magnetos, the one I had threw a good spark but evidently not good enough. I still have a little work to do on the carburetor but it ran good and idled right down. I spun the main and got oil pressure. I guess I need to get some fuel in the tank and bleed the injectors.

Thanks for keeping us updated Gary, I've found your work on this little 5J very inspirational, to say the least.

a simple solution would to have used different sized keys or offset keys from factory but that might have affected crank balance. and yes while adjusting it so it works is okay what if you forget you did that and when you work on it next time or the poor bugger who buys it after you. im the same it must be correct. dont care what it looks like but it must be working properly.

Made some diesel fumes today. It was a real bugger to get the air out of the fuel system.
Had some trouble with my temporary pony fuel supply but got it worked out.
Pony ran good and the main ran like it's been sitting over 4 years
