Yes, on the H's, a completely different governor.

How often do the governors break on the G model? Getting a little ridiculous at this point she is being a bit of a PIA...

Fuel flow from the pumps shows the rack/governor is functioning, at least for the start position.
If the pumps were shot you'd see fuel dripping from the tell tale drain line that vents the fuel filter and ties in to drain any pump leakage from the IP housing.
Can't remember if this was covered but are you sure your getting compression. I remember checking your s/n and it once was a pony start and may still have the compression release. Are you sure it's not in the release position?

Never had a pony motor on her... This is according to cat... there is no lever where the pony motor lever would be.... We never did a leak down test

Pony motor compression lever may be gone but that doesn't mean the compression release shaft that runs through the heads is not there. I'd believe the parts manual before I would take Cat's word. Check for yourself.

I'm not sure if cat would know actually know if it had a pony or not, in my experience they seem to be a bit light on with specific details on this old stuff.

It sounds silly but maybe check the De-compression lever hasn't been removed or something. I'm just wondering if it may have been removed when they did the electric start conversion and has since fallen or been rattled/knocked into decompression?

I'm not as smart as these other blokes but if you are getting whispy white smoke (like in the video i posted a while back) then maybe fuel but no compression.

Attached is a rather butchered pony motor dash. However, top left hole is where the pony starter button should be, under that t for throttle, then c for choke. far bottom right is the pony fuel tap. None of these holes in your dash? Or hole for the pony exhaust in the bonnet etc.?

Top left hole is for the pony mag, on-off switch, top right is the light switch, below that is the breaker reset. If the compression release shaft is sticking out of the block, check and see if its turned to the left[run position], viewed from the dash side. There is a detent ball on the short shaft linkage between the dash and the stub shaft coming out of the block, when the lever is installed on the dash. This puts the shaft in the correct position for the "Start" and "Run" settings. Without that shaft and linkage who knows where its at. Put a vise grip on the shaft and turn it and see what it does when cranking it over. But you said you have the pump off now so.........

In checking the build list for the direct start option on tractors prior to 66A9418 the compression release shafts are left in place same as pony units, just the cranks and short shaft to a coupling are removed. At 66A9418 up with standard direct start the shafts are removed and holes in the head are plugged.

If memory serves there is a square key way where the decompress would be. Are we saying that can be in the release portion? That would totally suck if it is...Can someone take a picture and post it.

If I am sitting in the seat it would be to knee height in my right leg and there is a cutout where I believe the shaft would have went through...
