I'm still getting emails even though I unsubscribed from this thread.

Thanks for the tip on the location icon, it was nice on the old site to easily see where someone was based, and how many times they had posted, I found that information useful

It gives a post count as well, I don't know that it is accurate at this point

Each time you post you have to unclick the box underneath where you type that says "check this box to be notified of replies to this topic"
The default is the box is already clicked
so you click it and your email notifications go away

EACH TIME you post.........

I'm having to click it now on this post so I don't get notified.....

OK, another question, I have hundreds of old threads I've started over the years and every now and then need to go back and re read the content, or refresh the thread to help someone, but I can't seem to find all my old threads, or posts pre 2020.

Please confirm all our old threads and posts pre 2020 are not lost to the ethernet, that would be a real disaster to lose all that technical info I've gleaned over the years, I'm not very bright at the best of times.
Thanks
Mike

Hopefully the web folks can unhook that automatic email function, it's a pain in the whartootsie to have to unsubscribe every single time I post.

Looks like this forum is dead. This is the only thread that is getting a lot of posts. I hope it picks up again.
Personally I think this forum should have been trialed before full release. There are so many issues with it.
The old forum you knew you were at a site that was Cat related. This one has no pictures other than the small ACMOC logo at the top and if you scroll down you see a railway picture but no Cat equipment.
Also the forum has been up for a few days now and absolutely none of the reported issues have been resolved.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I assumed this new board would carry over all the good features of the old one, and would have a lot more newer features, like better storage of tech data, and a better search function, and the option to provide a better level of support to the financial members like me who help pay the bills, and maybe the opportunity to generate some modest income selling tech info to non members.

What worries me is the potential negatives of this new board were not discussed before the old board was shut down, like we were never part of the discussion as the new board was being designed, or did I miss reading that thread, "What do members want?"

I was looking forward to seeing the new board, and enjoying the improved functions, right now I think it is a big step backwards, I know everyone involved will be doing their darndest to get it all bedded down, so I look forward to seeing all those old, good features reinstated, and hearing from those involved giving us some feedback on the gremlins we are experiencing.

I know they are all volunteers with families and jobs and lives, so once again I thank them for all their hard work behind the scenes.
Regards
Mike

Not a great start for a new membership drive. It seems to me we should be getting more help from the builders rather than us helping each other to figure this new board out

I imagine there are still a LOT that still can not get on here.

I really hope we can search our old threads, I referenced them a lot as I tend to do machine repairs as I can afford them, sometimes years after questions I asked in my threads. If that info is gone, that's just a huge gut punch. Same with the private messages, lot of info there I did not put into practice yet.

This new website should have been trialed first, so far the implementation has been a cluster...

ETD66SS, I agree with you, there is a lot new but some of the features are not here. To be honest, I liked the old board. It would have been good just to update the ,membership issue, the rest was fine.

Also, me being a non-member, a huge portion of the initial web page is how much money they want from me to join. I can't help but feel that my initial take on this new website (money grab) was right on target. Huge turn off so far. I was considering actually paying the $40 to get access to the help I need, but now not so sure... Will have to give it time to see just how this all plays out.
