I decided on a Plan B when I remembered I'd bought a home made 3 point linkage hay roll carrier at a farm clearing sale years ago and never used it, I think it will be strong enough for my old girls.

Total cost was about $10 which included a couple of cutting discs and a hand full of welding rods, I know the Engineers amongst us won't be very impressed with my effort, but it's better than what I had before, and all from scraps I had laying around.
