"Snagging List"

Hi Team, ....

something I notice each time I go thru the rigmarole of logging in is that I get two options of user name come up---one is edb---other is my email address.
Seems odd to me --so far I have had success after changing my password and reinstating a longer new one with a capital letter and numeral included and ONLY using the edb option--I always tick the remember me box as part of a tedious login.

Cheers,
Eddie B.

Eddie-

I finally re registered yesterday. I tried some weeks ago but got disgusted after being told (by the software) about the long complicated password requirements. I have been able to read and see the pix okay though. I did see a post in one of the new BBS threads indicating that short simple passwords COULD be used. I tried a five digit lowercase one- it didn't work. I added one more lowercase letter and it passed. I do not worry about someone hacking my very few social media accounts. What would a hacker do? Post something using my name? I use a 6-8 year old HP desktop with W10 and Firefox and a 8 yr old Acer Chromebook. I also virtually never log out. Just shut the browser down or click on another hotbutton and move on.

Daron

Now a little rant:

I was happy with the old BBS. I was happy with the TreeView BBS (possibly predated "South 40's" BBS). I was unhappy with the fight around the pulling of the BBS from South 40 and subsequent Joe Black/ACME battle. I did like the ACME BBS and have liked ACMOC's BBS fine. I don't like being forced to learn new techniques to do the same old tasks I've been doing for 5-10-15-20 years though- AND having to pay more money for it. And I just now noticed all of the BULLSHIT in the line above this 'writing panel'. What a waste of photons and bandwidth!

Again, Daron

Hi Administrators,
looks like the HACKERS are into the "For Sale/Wanted" section.
Cheers,

Hi, Gauntjoh.
I am not having any problems posting on the new board - so far - but I did have some trouble logging in a few times.
Right now, I have a small, black panel in the top right corner of the screen with the message: "Total: $201.00". It seems to be a leftover from when I renewed my membership a few days ago and appears to want me to renew it again when I already have an e-mail in my inbox saying that my membership has been renewed. The panel is 'live' and clicking on it brings up a larger window which wants me to go to the checkout to pay an international membership for which I already have a receipt from PayPal.
There does not seem to be any way to get rid of it.
Any thoughts Just my 0.02.

Hello Deas, Apologies for not responding sooner. This issue has been logged and will be fixed. In the meantime, if you click on the small black panel and proceed to checkout, when you get to the payment screen, you will see a small cross after the amount which if you click it will delete the item and hence the $201.00.
I hope this fixes your problem. I just tried it myself and it worked for me.
Best Regards, John

Hi, Gauntjoh.
Thanks for the reply. I guess either you fixed it for both of us or 'they' got tired of trying to get extra money out of me 'cos the relevant panel has disappeared.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Admittedly, we are having a lot of problems getting this thing off the ground. Thank you for your patience. I am glad your password finally worked. The long complex password you got is computer generated as well as the definition of what a password must contain. I am asking the developer for clarification.

those long passwords are a sign of the times--3 of my bank accounts have gone to that for a new password--so i thought i could use just one for all of them-but then one would no longer take $ as the special character and have to use# !!--what a piita!!

Sure would be nice to see the posters location like on the old site, helps with offering help, goods and services.

I added my location to my signature---it was easy to do by editing your profile

My preference would be to have my location right out by my name, could replace the word "boarder" which serves no purpose. I would rather not have to go looking in someones profile to see where they are located, makes it less likely that I would respond to the thread if I have to find their location if it is relevant to the discussion, such as someone wants a heavy part, or selling a tractor. Lazy or busy, I would be inclined to just pass it by.

Just "click" that "tear drop" image under "Member" and location shows up. I do agree that it would before convenient if it showed location automatically.
