Looking to replace pony motor with electric start. Any information would be very helpful on how to get a kit to do this.

This cat doesn’t have the bell housing your referring to. Can you mount the starter where you engage the pony motor to the fly wheel?

You have to drill a hole for the starter in the bellhousing with a hole saw and drill and tap mounting bolt holes. Does your bellhousing not have the machined blank for that?

There have been people mount there own homemade starter engines in place of the pony. Good luck.

Are you going 12v or 24?
Are you in a cold climate?.
If you are you will want a way to warm the engine before using the electric start as your engine does not have glow plugs.
Or add glow plugs.

Some people attach a belt around the pull start pony flywheel and power it with another engine or electric motor. Using the tractors original pony clutch and pinion engagement system.

Or pull start or park at top of a hill.........

I'm sure I've seen people attach a starter to the pony drive engagement pinion. I think there is a company that makes one.
It's been awhile since I looked at all those possibilities.
Does your machine have a PTO?

It has a winch on the back. It’s old but fairly good shape, don’t want to put a lot of money in it. Might just pull to start. Thanks for your help.

turn the pto with a tractor to start

roll start works fine just don't run outta fuel or stall in a spot you can't pull out of

I guess you could engage the winch and pull start it like a big lawn mower............

fix pony
